Showerband is a waterproof and flexible polyethylene fleece pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) tape made with a copolymer of isobutylene and isoprene. This composition enables a wide range of temperature resistance and ensures that the tape does not harden or become brittle over time. Shower trays and upstands at the wall connection joint are typically sealed with a silicone bead to create a waterproof barrier between the upstand and the wall lining. While this method meets code requirements, years of experience have shown that this joint is subject to constant movement due to expansion and contraction from hot and cold conditions in showers.
Building movement and shrinkage also exert pressure on silicone seal joints. Showerband acts as a “belts and braces” protective waterproof band that covers the area between the shower tray and the wall lining, overlaying the silicone joint. This provides a double-layer protective waterproof seal in case of any movement, expansion, or contraction.
Showerband is flexible and designed to withstand both warm and cold temperatures, accommodating movement in these joints to ensure a reliable waterproof seal in this vulnerable area.

Showerband serves as a secondary seal between the ledge of the shower upstand and the wall lining, effectively preventing leaks around the horizontal edge where reliance on silicone seals can fail due to building movement over the years. It provides an additional layer of waterproof protection in this problematic area.
The material of Showerband is specifically designed with a fleeced texture, allowing adhesives, waterproofing membranes, and silicones to bond effectively.
To apply the Showerband, start by cleaning the surfaces where it will be applied. Position the Showerband so that the feathered edge is against the wall and the square cut edge aligns with the shower upstand.
Next, remove the backing paper in 100mm increments. Align the square cut edge parallel to the corner of the tray at the bottom of the upstand, and firmly press it in place by hand. Ensure that the Showerband extends a minimum of 8–10mm onto the shower tray upstand.
Carefully manipulate and pinch the internal corner into position, ensuring it adheres neatly and firmly without interfering with tiling or wall liners during installation.
Once the Showerband is securely fitted around the edge, apply pressure along all edges and surfaces to ensure a strong bond with both the wall lining and the shower tray upstand.
